I have significant experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression and traumatic experiences. I specialize in working with clients dealing with relationship issues; and I’ve had great success helping clients improve their current relationships, understanding past relationships and plan for future relationships.

I use talk therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help you make lasting changes to live the life you want.

As a seasoned EMDR certified clinician, I also focus my practice on EMDR consultation; supervision for clinicians looking to gain confidence, build their practice and earn EMDR certification.

Experience

Melanie brings extensive experience from her previous psychotherapy positions at the The Viva Center, Psychiatric Institute of Washington, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and N Street Village. At these organizations, Melanie worked with many individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Over the years, Melanie has provided supervision for individuals at The Viva Center and in her private practice. She is an EMDRIA approved consultant and has consulted with numerous clinicians seeking EMDR certification.

Education

Melanie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and received a Master’s in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work, where she specialized in psychodynamic theory.

She is an EMDRIA certified EMDR clinician and received advanced clinical training from the EMDR Institute of Greater Washington. In addition Melanie trained with Deany Laliotis  and earned her certification as an EMDRIA approved EMDR consultant at The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy.
